Protect Our Future

The Protect Our Future campaign was established to attract and train the next generation of doctors and future specialists in the field of Porphyria. Over the next decade, you and I will lose ninety percent of our valued Porphyria experts. These men and women have led Porphyria research, testing and treatment for the past thirty years. Without financial support, we run the risk of losing knowledge of the disease, quality testing, diagnosis, treatment and ultimately a cure.

When we originally made the Protect Our Future appeal, the APF received a higher volume of payments for annual dues at that time. We appreciate these dues, which help fund patient and physician educational programs.

Protect Our Future is a separate campaign and need. We are seeking donations of this additional gift for the specific purpose of locating and training porphyria specialists.

You and I are pulled so many ways for our donations, such as churches, police leagues and schools. But rarely will we be presented with an opportunity to impact the course of our own lives and that of our children for years to come. This specialist is a treating physician, researcher and teacher. Therefore, he will be able to treat porphyria patients and train others to do the same, while continuing his amazing porphyria research.
