NOTE : We are happy that the New York Times published the following article,
however, the statement about false positive PBG tests is misleading, since there are no false positives unless the test is done wrong.
When the PBG test is positive, it can be one of 3 types of porphyria, but that doesn't mean 2 of them are false positives. They all cause the same symptoms and are all treated the same way.
But, we are grateful for the article to heighten awareness of porphyria.
