Steven Shedlofsky, M.D.

Dr. Shedlofsky first developed an interest in Porphyria when he lived in New Hampshire for a short time, and crossed paths with APF advisory board member Dr. Herbert Bonkovsky in the early 1980s.  Since then, Dr. Shedlofsky has pursued the study of Porphyria and become an expert in the disease in his own right, seeing patients at his clinic at the University of Kentucky.

Dr. Shedlofsky is Professor and Chief of Gastroenterology at the VA Medical Center in Lexington, KY, and Associate Director of the University of Kentucky Hospital General Clinical Research Center.  As most Porphyria specialists do, Dr. Shedlofsky sees patients with all types of Porphyria, although his principal research interest is in PCT.
